Meet the Admin who loves Honda!

Post by admin » Mon May 15, 2017 3:03 am

Hello everyone,
I am the administrator of Type R Blog and would love to see your rides!
So, please feel free to create a topic and introduce yourself, a little about you and your build.

I have created this website to share knowledge and information about Honda & Acura models and to keep all of it in a organized space where it is easily accessible. Torque Specs, Service Manuals, Reference Material of all types to help you with your project or help you learn something new.

My career background consist of Industrial experience and Mechanical Engineering work such as Solidworks, AutoCAD and Cadman CNC Programming. I've worked at some of the world's largest employers and currently seeking my Bachelors in Computer Science and CCNA. My goal is to work in a local data center close to home.

Married, 3 boys and my hobbies consist of technology and working on cars.

So now that you know a little about me, here is my current project.

Meet "Checkers"

I have set up a Google Drive Folder to share any updated images from the entire build.

Update: When I started cleaning the B18C Head, I noticed the pistons had beat on the valves.
I have decided to get the head resurfaced by a reputable machine shop and have the valves checked.

I will be waiting a few more weeks on the Type R head to be machined, but that will give me more time to prep and paint.

Honestly this is a very low budget build, 97 cent cans of spray paint.

A little more progress, I have the Gates Timing belt installed and everything is TDC on the B18C.
Next up is the AEM Adjustable Cam Gears and the ATI Race Damper Pulley. Getting closer...

Factory B18C Cam Gears are Top Dead Center, with the lines even with the head.

All Timing is set and the Street Rays Timing Tool will keep it from turning.
I have already turned the engine counter clockwise a few times and it still lines up perfect TDC. *Top Dead Center*

Crank Timing Gear is also pointing to the arrow on the oil pump.

Everything seems to be going great! Next I will be installing the Lower Timing Cover, ATI Race Damper and AEM Adjustable Cam Gears.
The Valve Cover can also go back on to the head after setting the valve lash. Who needs sleep right?

Currently waiting on the dealership for a crankshaft key way *wood-ruff key*
I have decided to clone myself and let my clones do the work until further notice.

I will attend yard work and go to my lame job while they have fun... "jerks"
